New Delhi: The Delhi government, led by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has initiated a door-to-door campaign to identify beneficiaries for the newly approved Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Rashi scheme. Approved by the Delhi Cabinet on Thursday, the scheme aims to provide a monthly financial support of Rs. 1,000 to eligible women residents of Delhi via direct benefit transfer (DBT) to their Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.
With an estimated 38 lakh women eligible for the scheme across the city, the Delhi government is addressing challenges like the large migrant and floating population in the National Capital Region (NCR) that forms a significant part of the workforce. These challenges have necessitated a well-planned process for enrolling beneficiaries efficiently.
An official from the AAP government asserted that efforts are being made to speed up the establishment of the scheme’s backend unit. “We are in the process of ensuring that the Project Management Unit (PMU) becomes operational within the next ten days instead of the three months as has been projected by some government departments,” the official said, highlighting the government’s determination to fast-track the implementation of the scheme.
The Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Rashi is designed to provide financial relief to women, particularly from lower-income backgrounds. The government aims to
ensure a seamless process for identifying and enrolling beneficiaries, with a focus on reaching out to women in every part of the city through its door-to-door campaign.
By targeting quick enrollment and ensuring timely distribution, the Delhi government hopes to enhance the economic security of women, contributing to their financial empowerment. The initiative reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to improving the welfare of women in the city.
