Ghaziabad: The AAP's local unit protested rise in the prices of petroleum products on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum addressed to Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Party workers took out a procession to the collectorate where they shouted slogans against the government and submitted the memorandum to the District Magistrate.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Convenor Sachin Sharma, in the memorandum, said the prices of petroleum products are at an all-time high in the country despite plummeting crude oil prices.
Noting that in 2014, crude oil was at $108.6 per barrel and while it had halved to $54.2 per barrel in 2017, the price of petroleum was Rs 80 per litre, it said.
Blaming the high prices on unchecked price escalation decided by oil companies, the AAP demanded that the prices be linked to that of international crude oil.
