Being unaware of role of civic agencies, most of the residents of the millennium city go to the cops for solving their civic woes.

A large number of complaints are being registered with the Gurugram Police , social media platforms on the prevalent civic woes in the city only to be then directed by the Gurugram Police towards the relevant agencies.

Increased encroachments, increase in the number of stray animals, dumping of garbage at the vacant plots, illegal constructions and even poor lighting at the streets of the city are the most common complaints received by the Gurugram Police in the social media sites.

"The Gurugram Police has a dedicated social media platform for helping the residents in Gurugram. Besides the problem that to pertains to Gurugram Police we are also receiving a large number of complaints on the civic problems in the city. Some of the major problems involve dumping of garbage in the vacant plots, poor conditions of footpaths, roads and street lighting in the area. We ultimately direct the residents to the relevant agencies like HUDA and MCG," said a senior official from Gurugram Police.

When asked on the increased number of complaints and the disconnect of citizens in the city with the civic agencies, the official said,
"I will not be the right authority to comment on the issue. However, on the positive note it can be seen that Gurugram Police continues to be popular with the citizens in solving the problems."
Speaking on the complaints of civic woes being addressed to Gurugram Police, Dhruv Bansal Gurugram Citizens Council highlighted the fact by saying that,

"The large number of complaints being highlighted to Gurugram Police highlights the failure of the civic agencies to connect with the citizens. Today there are various problems in the city like illegal encroachments, dumping of garbage at the vacant sites for which MCG is

accountable. However, residents do not know about the role of MCG along with other Government agencies."

"Another major problem why citizens are not aware of the civic agencies is because of the multiplicity of the agencies which are at work in
the city, "Bansal further added.

Recently, a majority of the personnel of Gurugram police had to work overtime in the face of the agitation announced by members of the Jat community. The agitators were demanding reservation in government jobs and educational institutions.
