New Delhi: The nine years long run of Hadmat Jairam Bhai Bhat ended on Tuesday after he was arrested by Delhi Police Economic Offences Wing (EOW). Police said since 2010 he was declared proclaimed offender. Additional Commissioner of Police (EOW) Suvashis Choudhary confirmed the arrest. Police said he is the associate of one Ashok Jadeja who had falsely represented himself that he has been blessed with the divine power of a deity revered by some community in North India. He promised innocent people to triplicate their money in three days. "People fell prey and paid money," police further added.
The investigating agency said that the complainant in the case alleged that he gave Rs 1,55,000 to the fraudster for getting it multiplied. During the investigation, similar allegations of 1,852 victims of deceit to the tune of Rs 46,40,28,400 were received at EOW. They had also been cheated by Jadeja and his associates with same modus operandi. Police further added that Jadeja constituted a group of agents to induce and collect money from the members of the community from all over India. "Hadmat Jairam was one of the main agents of Jadeja and conspirator in the case. He is involved in 30 other cases of various states," said Additional CP Suvashis Choudhary.
