Gurugram: It is that season again in Gurugram when the residents begin to worry about the rise in the number of vector-borne diseases like Dengue and malaria. After the confirmation of five cases of dengue in the city, now four more suspected cases have come in a single week.
These cases have come up at a time when a Rapid Response team has been set up by the district health department to respond to the case of vector-borne diseases.
As of now, there are six confirmed cases of dengue while there have been fifty suspected cases that also include four in the present week.
Preparations have already begun for early fogging. There are teams that have been formed by Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) to detect the presence of larvae across the four municipal zones in which the city is divided.
Ironically, the large presence of larvae has been found in the posh areas of the city. Areas that have been termed as highly prone to vector-borne diseases in the city are DLF, Sushant-Lok, South- City, Sector -31 and Palam –Vihar.
Last year, the number of patients suffering from dengue and chikungunya was so high that it resulted in the shortage of beds in the city hospitals and many patients were referred to hospitals in Delhi for treatment. The health department and civic agencies have assured that they are constantly watching the situation.
