EOW registers cheating case of Rs 4.82 cr

New Delhi: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police on Tuesday registered a case of cheating of more than four crore rupees.

The investigating agency said that suspects in the case fled away with money of complainants on the pretext of providing property.

Additional Commissioner of Police (EOW) Suvashis Choudhary confirmed the news and stated that the investigation is going on in the case.

Police said that the case was registered on the complaint of one Madhvi Sharma and others.

The complainants alleged that one Sandeep Chhatwal, in conspiracy with his associates, induced them to purchase flats in property and later, fled away after receiving a sum of Rs 4.82 crore from 10 complainants, police said.

Later, neither the possession of the property was given nor the money was returned to the complaints.

Police said that four suspects in the case promised that they would give the flat at a much lower price than one prevailing in the market if substantial amounts as advance were paid to one of the suspects.

It was further promised by them that by the time possession would be handed over, the price would increase multifold.

Similarly, other complainants had been enticed and allured into entering the agreement to sell.

Police have registered a case under sections 406/420/120-B IPC has been registered at police station EOW.
