Education: NCPCR urges parents not to discriminate between boys and girls
New Delhi: Finding that the girls are not provided good education as compared to a boy by the families, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has urged the parents to provide girls good education and stop discrimination.
For school education, the child rights body is working on Universal Curriculum for life which will cover the problems and solutions of school dropout girls who are more vulnerable to child marriage and human trafficking. According to NCPCR, education plays an important role in the development of children. "We have found that a boy is sent to good school but the same family does not show any concern towards the education of girl either she is sent to those educational institutions that lack proper facility for education or they are married," said Priyank Kanoongo, a member from NCPCR. He added that they are working for the development of girls aged between 15 and 18 years and are school dropout. The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, caters to every child in the age group of 6-14 years but from 15 years especially the girls when they did not get further education become vulnerable and without proper vocational training they face abuse.
"Universal Curriculum will also deal with the solutions related to drug addiction in children and through the syllabus of the Curriculum for the teachers or person who is giving life skill training to children will know how to impart knowledge among the children," said Priyank adding that they are working on the curriculum and in future they will be coming up with it.
