New Delhi: The Proctor office of Delhi University reverently issued a notice banning any kind of protests or 'demonstration being conducted on the university campus. The ban on protests is effective in the university premises, administrative block, library and other department in the university. Before this, the Jawaharlal Nehru University had also issued an advisory to the students threatening of action if they occupy the premises of the university departments, library and administrative blocks for the acts of dharna or protests.
A circular issued by the Delhi University's proctor's office on February 16 said that, "All students of Delhi University are advised not to occupy premises of departments, library
and administrative blocks for protests and dharnas. These acts cause disruption in academic activities as well as day to day functioning of the respective offices."
As per the official notification released by the university disruption of the academic function of the university system amounts to an act of indiscipline as per the ordinance XV Para 3 (i), Delhi University Act, 1922. The notice further reads that any students found violating the ordinance can be expelled, rusticated, fined or debarred from taking the examinations. Moreover, a few days back the university also issued an advisory to the students and teachers to avoid usage of loudspeakers, drums, sound amplifiers, public address system within a 100 meters range of the University's Campus. It was done after the Delhi high court and National Green Tribunal (NGT) released an order to curb noise pollution.
