Doctor's wife went extra mile to teach poor kids: Neighbours

Gurugram: The sudden death of Sonu Singh (50), the doctor's wife, not only surprised the neighbours but also a large number of parents whose children were studying in the playschools managed by her. Neighbours claim that how Sonu Singh went the extra mile to make sure that she taught underprivileged children.

It was because of this that her playschools were located in the far-flung areas of the city like Fazalipur. The popularity of her playschools led to not only underprivileged children but even children from upper middle class also enrolling in the school that was being managed by her.

For many people who knew Sonu, she was a teacher at heart and took an extra step to make sure that education was imparted to all the children. Besides giving basic training to the students, she also used to take classes in Maths and English. Off-late her objective was to expand the footprint of playschools in the city and enrols more students. She had kept a perfect balance in her schools where she not only admitted underprivileged students but also children from financially strong households, the parents of whom can invest in her educational venture.

"She was one person who was really passionate and sincere about spreading education. She was keen on imparting primary education and felt that a strong foundation of primary education could strengthen the society," said Reema Sharma, one of her neighbours.

Ram Yadav another person who knew the deceased said," She was a kind and warm hearted person. Everyone in the area knew about her teaching activities and in a way wanted to assist her in her educational ventures. Her death has come as a shock. She never displayed any form of stress during the conversation."
