With the MCD elections under a month away, many confrontations over denial of party tickets have come to the fore.

This time a Delhi BJP leader alleged that he was attacked Tuesday night by a disgruntled party worker, who was denied a party ticket for the MCD polls.

BJP's Karol Bagh district president Bharat Bhushan Madan, the outgoing Councillor for Moti Nagar ward in North Delhi Municipal Corporation (North MCD), was injured in the attack and lodged a police complaint in this regard.

In his complaint, Madan wrote: "I was at my Moti Nagar residence when one Varun Chabra came along with his supporters around 7 PM and attacked me when I objected to their abuses."

The accused Chabra claimed that he had paid Rs 5 lakh to Madan for a party ticket.

However, when his name did not crop up in the list, he confronted Madan and demanded that he return his money.

However, Madan has refuted the allegations and claimed that there was no exchange of money.

Madan claimed that he only knew Chabra by face and entertained him as he was a party supporter.

Madan further said that since Chabra was not a party member, there was never a question of giving him a BJP ticket.

After the complaint was lodged against the accused, he too approached the police and filed a counter complaint against Madan.
