Delhi Police Chief praises districts and units for successful 2018

New Delhi: The Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik on the first day of New Year praised districts and different units of Delhi Police and their coordination which led to the solving of major crimes in the Delhi. With safety and security, the welfare of city police staffs remained a top priority in 2018, as many as 41 police personnel have been granted out of turn promotion to the next rank for exemplary work during discharge of their official duties.

The police Chief said that senior officers in Delhi rose to the occasion which solved many cases. "Digitalization of malkhana was a major achievement for Delhi police in 2018," said Police Chief. During his speech, he also praised the investigation done by Crime Branch of Delhi Police in Burari case where 11 persons of the same family found hanging. In 2018, Delhi Police made elaborate arrangements during the funeral of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Through Twitter handle CP Delhi tweeted, "As we, in #DelhiPolice, focus on improving further our visibility, response & service-delivery, we request the citizenry also to devote some thought to the security of their home & colony. With police & public partnership, we can make Delhi a lot safer. Wish you a very #HappyNewYear2019"

In 2019, one of the major challenges for city police will be conducting the upcoming Lok Sabha election without any violence. Delhi Police's new district named as Outer North begin functioning from the first day of the new year. The new district has been carved out from existing Rohini, Northwest and Outer districts. Gaurav Sharma, additional DCP of Rohini, 2009 IPS batch, will officiate as DCP outer north till further orders. The 15 new police stations are Shastri Park, Dayal Pur, Patparganj Industrial Area, Shakarpur, Shaheen Bagh, Kalindi Kunj, Tigri, Maidan Garhi, Mohan Garden, Raj Park, Prem Nagar, Budh Vihar, Narela Industrial Area, Wazirabad and

Kishan Garh.
