Delhi Metro employee live streams suicide on Facebook
No suicide note was found at the spot and no one raised any suspicion on the death;
New Delhi: Streaming live on Facebook, a 27-year-old employee of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) allegedly committed suicide on Sunday by hanging himself at his rented house in Teliwara area of Shahdara district.
According to police, on Monday at 09:05 am, a PCR call was received at Farsh Bazar police station that a man has committed suicide at his apartment near Chhota Bazar metro station. One of the friends of the deceased informed the police after he saw the deceased's live video of committing suicide on Facebook.
A police team reached the spot at Teliwara area of Shahdara where the caller Suryakant Das, house owner Sanjay Arora and other persons were found.
Police further said that Suryakant Das informed that his friend Shubhankar Chakraborty, a native of North 24 Paragana, West Bengal, was living as tenant in Teliwara for last two months. The floor found closed from inside. The door was broken and Shubhankar was found hanging from the ceiling fan hook of the room with a yellow colour plastic rope.
Police further added that the crime team was called at the spot. Photographs and inspection were conducted by the crime team. The mobile phone of deceased was found at the window of the room.
"The plastic rope has been taken in possession. No suicide note was found at the place of occurrence. No one raised any suspicion on the death of Shubhankar," police said adding that information has been given to the family of the deceased.
According to the police investigation, statements of the caller Suryakant Das has been recorded who stated that today his friend Akash informed him on his mobile phone at about 8 am that he had seen a live video of Shubhankar in which he was seen committing suicide by hanging from the ceiling fan hook of the room.
Das informed he with his other friend reached at the deceased accommodation where he noticed that the room of Shubhankar was closed from inside and when he peeped into the room from a window of the room, he noticed that Shubhankar had committed suicide by hanging.
Thereafter, Suryakant Das made a PCR call regarding the incident. It came into notice that Shubhankar had been working in Delhi Metro Rail Corporation for the last 2-3 months, he was the only son in his family.
He has a married sister who resides at West Bengal and his mother has expired 16 years back.
