Adding to the list of insensitive acts of crime against women in Gurugram, a 17-year-old was raped several times for four months by a family friend and then forcibly made to consume poison.

The girl who was admitted to a government hospital for treatment died on Sunday.

However, before dying, she highlighted the seriousness of the issue and gave out all the details.

The deceased who had gone missing on Friday returned to her family on Saturday and stated that she was taken to a desolate spot in the Sector-37 industrial area by the person who again raped her.

He then forcibly made her consume poison after she warned him of informing his evil acts to her as well as his family.

The case has been registered in the Sector-37 police station under section 302 (murder), 506 (criminal intimidation) and Section 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO).

The rapist is a father of four kids and has a 15-year-old daughter.

In the dramatic twist, the culprit too consumed poison when the police came to arrest him.

He is presently being treated at Safdarjung Hospital and is out of danger.

According to police sources, the culprit has also accused of the crime and will soon be arrested when deemed medically fit.

The accused rapist who belongs from Pataudi knew the girl's family for over ten years. Both the rapist and the girl's father were auto drivers.

"It is again one of those unfortunate incidents where sexual crime has occurred within the family of friends. On our part, we have registered the case and are in the process of gathering evidence.

"While this will be another event for the critics to lash out at the police, it is also a time for the society to introspect and realise where they are going," said Sumit Kuhar DCP (Crime).

The incident adds to the increasing cases of horrific sexual crimes against women and minors in Gurugram.

Not only in rapes but the city has also seen a considerable rise in molestation cases.
