Lieutenant- Governor Anil Baijal on Tuesday asked the three MCDs and the NDMC to put up boards at prominent places giving the contact numbers of the person who can be contacted for making a complaint against the lack of cleanliness.
Instruction from the LG came while he was chairing the third fortnightly review meeting of the MCDs and the NDMC on various issues related to Delhi.
On the occasion, the status of civic issues relating to Swachh Bharat Mission, cashless transactions, mechanical sweeping of roads, construction of new community toilets and public toilets, maintenance of parks, the involvement of RWAs in monitoring the cleanliness of roads, public places and dhalaos and few others were reviewed.
On the status report of the construction of household toilets, community toilets, and public toilets, LG directed the Deputy Commissioners of the 3 MCDs to monitor the progress. He emphasized that for regular maintenance of parks and open gyms and also to monitor cleanliness of roads, public places, dhalaos, community involvement must be ensured. Strict action has been directed to be taken against non-performance.
The LG asked the municipal bodies to expedite installation of Water ATMs in their areas in light of the extreme heat. Mechanical sweeping also has to be increased to cater to the needs of the citizens of Delhi. As regards disposal of municipal solid waste, the LG asked for quick implementation of the integrated system of garbage collection and disposal.
The LG also instructed the municipal bodies to explore the possibility of landscaping the already existing landfill sites with green features so that these spaces serve an aesthetic purpose. Regarding trash cans, he advised that they should be placed on both sides of the roads and adequate numbers.
