The race for 56,000 seats for undergraduate courses in Delhi University officially went underway as the University on Friday night released its first cut-off list.
The cut-offs were declared, after being postponed by three days, as many aspirants had fear of sky rocketing cut-offs due to the controversy with the marks moderation policy this year.
However, bucking the trend, the top colleges in DU had come with a comparatively lower cut-off. Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College saw the highest cut-off with 99.6 percent for BSc (Hons) Electronics, followed by Political Science at 98.25 per cent for Economics (Hons).
Lady Shri Ram College recorded its highest cut-off at 98.5 per cent for BA Psychology (Hons), followed by BA English (Hons) at 98 per cent. Cut-offs for other top courses at the college included 97.25 per cent for BCom (Hons) and 97.5 per cent for BA Economics (Hons).
Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) was the first college in the University to declare its cut-offs, with its coveted BCom (Hons) and BA Economics (Hons) going at 97.75 per cent.
Last year, Ramjas College had set the record for the highest cut-off for any course, with 99.25 per cent for B Com (Hons). This year, however, the college has lowered the threshold for BCom (Hons) to 97.5 per cent. The cut-offs for BA Economics (Hons) also stood at 97.5 per cent, while it reached 96.5 per cent for BA English (Hons). BA History (Hons) recorded a cut-off of 97 per cent. Meanwhile, the BA Programme course – which recorded the highest number of applications received in the University – saw one per cent rise in its cut-off and reached 97 per cent.
At Hansraj College, another top institution in North Campus, cut-offs for most sought after courses were recorded at 97.25 per cent for BA Economics (Hons) and 97.5 per cent for BCom (Hons). There were also courses in the college which witnessed no change in their cut-offs, namely BSc Chemistry (Hons) at 97.33 per cent and BSc Physics (Hons) 97 per cent and BA English (hons) at 97 per cent.
In Hindu College also the cut -offs stayed at 97 per cent, with courses like English, Economics staying at 97.5 percent. Miranda House also saw a similar trend with 97 percent for BA (Hons) in Political Science and 96 per cent for sociology.
The cut-off at Kirori Mal College for BCom reached 97 per cent. Meanwhile, BCom (Hons) and Economic (Hons) at the college crossed the 97 threshold by .5 per cent. The cut-offs for English (Hons) stood at 96 per cent.
In South Campus, Sri Venketeshwara College B Com (Hons) and BA in Economics (Hons) stood at 97.5 per cent.
In some courses of some colleges, there was a monumental rise in the percentage points of cut-offs, with Janki Devi Memorial College raising its cut-off for BA History (Hons) from 85 to 90 per cent.
All applicants will need to carry the requisite documents during the admission process. These include the Class X and Class XII Board exam certificates and marksheets; print out of the admission form; transfer certificate from school or college; migration certification from Board or University.
Additionally, all candidates will be required to carry passport size self-attested photographs, original copy of the registration form, pass certificate for Class XI English (for students who did not appear in compulsory English).
The verification process will take place between 9.30 am and 1.30 pm for morning colleges and from 4 pm to 7 pm for evening colleges.
Those who have completed their verification process will be required to pay the fee before 12 pm the next day. This can be done from the University's official undergraduate admission portal.
