Several students, teaching and non-teaching staff of Delhi University took part in the rain-soaked International Yoga Day celebrations here on Wednesday.
Enthusiastic participants assembled around 7 am in various colleges of the University to take part in Yoga exercises and attended
awareness lectures on Yoga and its benefits.

"Yoga comprises of different simple asanas and breathing techniques, which, if practiced properly can yield wonderful and fast results," said Praveen Kumar Gupta, district chief of Bhartiya Yog Sansthan, while attending an event at Daulat Ram College.

"Family pressure, academic performance standards, financial insecurity and peer pressure can push a student towards depression. In such scenario, Yoga can come as a rescue," said Chandraveer Dagar, a Yoga expert.
Himani, a student of Miranda House, said: "I am doing Yoga because I want to improve my eyesight."

NSS and NCC students were also seen participating.

"Through Yoga, I am regaining strength and potential in life. Earlier I didn't perform Yoga daily, but after getting awareness and future perspective in career, I would like to pursue a career as a Yoga instructor," said Priyanka, a differently-abled student.
