SDMC field supervisory staff take pledge to improve Swachhta rank

Update: 2017-06-20 18:59 GMT
SDMC Commissioner Dr Puneet Kr Goel while addressing capacity building workshop for the engineering and sanitation staff up to the level of JEs and Sis exhorted them to work with strong determination for improving the rank of the Corporation in Swacchta Sarvekshan 2018.

He stated that , "we have very little time at our disposal and the challenge is daunting one hence we will have to cover the effect of leniency during last three-four months by working hard with realizing personal responsibilities."

Goel said that we could not achieve better ranking during 2017 Swacchta Sarvekshan since we could not project our activities properly. It is time to wake up and work in tandem in order to ensure a substantial jump in the ranking, he added.

While refereeing to the open defecation, he instructed the staff to make all 104 wards open defecation free (ODF). If we fail to achieve this and the capital city is not able to make it ODF, the image of our country will be badly affected, Goel said.

SDMC invited field level functionaries including sanitary guides to make them ready to take up the challenge of improving the ranking.

The Commissioner said though Delhi is facing extreme migration which is beyond our control but we have to provide toilets. We will consult the DUSIB to ascertain their difficulties in providing toilets in certain specific localities so that we could do it ourselves.

He asked the JEs to give proper attention on cleaning of drains and proper maintenance of toilets.

We have to construct sufficient number of toilets and ensure their maintenance.

The officers have been instructed to inspect the toilets.

The next challenge is segregation of waste. The DEMS and Store Department will have work together to design new ricksaws, to install GPS on transport vehicles and ICT based feedback, Goel added.
