UP cops who went to nab snatchers in Delhi beaten by mob

 A chase for snatchers turned into a nightmare for the Uttar Pradesh Police when they crossed over the state boundary and entered North East Delhi's Sonia Vihar but were thrashed and brutally assaulted by a group of men.

As the team of UP police received information that two snatchers after committing a crime in Ghaziabad, they crossed over the boundary and entered Sonia Vihar of Delhi.
Informing the local police station Sonia Vihar proved little help as the team soon came under attack.

The UP Police team was surrounded by a group of men and beaten up.

According to sources, some men in the mob also snatched the pistol of the cops. 

The cops tried to save themselves and told the mob that they were from police but seem the mob was in no mood to listen.

However, soon the additional force from the local police station reached the spot and chased away the assailants. Later, the pistol of the UP Police cops was also recovered.

"We have registered a case of obstructing the public servant in discharging his duty and other relevant sections of the IPC," said a senior police officer. The police are now looking for the snatchers who are still absconding along with the men who assaulted the cops.
