The Delhi police were thrown into a tizzy after a 15-year-old girl alleged that she was kidnapped and later gang-raped by a group of four men in Begumpur park in Rohini on Tuesday night.
However, the investigation by Wednesday night revealed that she was lured into the park by her 22-year-old boyfriend and raped by him. Fear of getting scolded by her parents for returning late, the girl cooked up a story of gang raped.
The friend of the girl has been arrested under POCSO Act.
The victim told police that she was dragged and gang raped by a group of men in a park in Rohini's Begumpur. The police later registered a case under proper sections and started investigations.
"The incident happened on Tuesday evening when the girl went to a park in Rohini along with her male friend at around 9:30 pm where the boy raped the minor girl," DCP Rohini Rishipal said.
After the girl returned home, owing to nervousness and trauma, rather than narrating the entire incident, she told her parents that she was abducted by four men on a motorbike and taken to a secluded spot where she was gang raped. Then, her parents immediately informed the police on Wednesday morning.
The cops soon reached the victim's house and based on her version, the investigators scanned the CCTV footage of the place from where she said that she was abducted.
But, the footage did not show any such incident. The cop team then checked the call records of the girl when they found that she was in contact with a boy just before the incident.
The team probing the incident then approached the boy and he confessed crime after initially trying to mislead cops.
"The minor girl was scolded by her parents for turning up late at home last night. She, with the intent to save the boy, cooked up the story of gang rape.
"The boy, aged 22 years, knew the girl for the last one year, being neighbours at the place where he works," said DCP Rohini Rishipal Singh. The boy has been arrested under 376 IPC and POCSO Act.
