In an Interesting development in the recent case of kidney racket, the Delhi Police relying on the kidney donor Jaideep's hearing senses to arrest another one known as Arun Das from Kolkata.
The alleged middleman who initially denied any involvement when confronted, was made to talk to Jaideep. After a green signal from Jaideep, the accused Arun Das was arrested.
The crime team arrested him from Kolkata and believes that with this, they have caught a big fish in their net.
"Arun Das played a major role in the kidney racket and provided potential donors to his contacts like Jayant Sahoo," said cops.
When the team reached Das's residence, he tried to dodge the police saying that he is not Arun Das and probably the cops have had a misunderstanding.
Initially, the cops were puzzled until they hit upon a brilliant idea.
The team knew that Das used to speak to Jaideep over the phone on several occasions and it was then when they hatched the innovative idea to catch Das off guard.
"I have spoken to Arun Das for at least 30 to 35 times and I cannot make mistakes in recognising his voice. As the Crime Branch put him on the line, I took three minutes to confirm his identity," said Jaideep.
Arun was arrested soon after the confirmation. Cops will now bring him to Delhi on transit remand.
An MBA student Jaideep from Sikar, Rajasthan had busted a kidney racket along with the Crime Branch in which four people including a woman has been arrested.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Police has procured a search warrant in Batra Hospital.
The role of several doctors in the hospital is kept under the scanner.
