Two children were killed and rest were left injured on Wednesday morning after an unidentified vehicle hit five members of a family near Chhapraula village in Badalpur area of Greater Noida.
The family was hit by the speeding vehicle while they were trying to cross the road.
The accident took the lives of two brothers while the rest are ongoing treatment in District Hospital, Gautam Buddh Nagar.
The incident took place at around 5 am on NH-91 near Chhapraula crossing. Said police.
The family was returning from Haridwar and they hailed from Balia district in Uttar Pradesh.
The deceased, 12-year-old Saumansh and his 8-year-old brother Anshul died on spot. Their father, Shamsher Singh, mother Gunja and six-year-old sister are said to be stable.
"Soon after the incident was reported to us, a police team rushed to the spot.
They were taken to a nearby hospital in Dadri where doctors declared two children brought dead while other family members were referred to a higher hospital after receiving the first aid," said a police official from Badalpur Police Station.
"The bodies have beensent for the post-mortem and reports are awaited.
Through our investigations, it's clear that they have accidentally died after being hit by a vehicle while crossing road," added police.
Shamsher used to work in a rice factory in Ghaziabad.
The family belongs to middle-class strata and was living in a rented home in Chhapraula village.
