North Delhi Municipal Corporation on Wednesday handed over a letter of engagement to the wife of Ravinder Kumar, who was beaten to death by a group of youth for objecting to them urinating in public near GTB Nagar on Saturday evening.

Rani will be appointed to a class-IV post of 'beldar' or 'coolie' on minimum wages approved by the Government of India from time to time. A letter of engagement was given to her by North Delhi Mayor Preety Aggarwal.
North MCD Mayor Preety Agarwal said that Ravinder's wife has been engaged under 'Dependents Welfare Scheme' and the decision has been taken considering that her husband had objected to the culprits urinating in the open.

Aggarwal further clarified that the arrangement has been made as per prevalent rules and the woman has been offered engagement for 89 days initially, but it would continue in the future as well.
