Raising doubts over the drowning theory, the family of young IAS officer Ashish Dahiya believed drowning could be the last thing that could happen to Ashish as he was a good swimmer. The family has also demanded a thorough probe in the sudden and tragic death of the young officer.

"It's hard to believe that Ashish drowned in the 10-feet deep swimming pool. He was a trained officer and was very good at swimming, how can he drown. We don't know what happened but the matter should be investigated," said Kuldeep Singh, uncle of Ashish Dahiya.

Meanwhile, Ashish's Facebook page shows that his profile was last updated on May 15 at 10:21 pm after receiving the Director's gold medal where he is seen proudly posing with the medal and expressed gratitude to his friends who helped him in preparing last time notes.

"Dedicating this Director's gold medal to all friends who prepared notes in the exam time and helped others study at their own expense. Thank You friends," Dahiya said in the FB post.

As the news of his death spread amongst his friends and well wishers, condolence messages started pouring in.

One of his friends, Jai Dogra commented, "RIP departed soul, after all you were great inspiration to society, may God give your family courage todeal with the tragedy. Feeling sad."

Ashish Dahiya drowned in the swimming pool trying to save one of his female colleagues who accidentally slipped in the pool in a training institute in South Delhi. A group of 4-5 young men jumped in the pool to save her but in vain. After the girl was rescued, it was noticed that Ashish was not around and later his body was found floating.
