Killers of e-rickshaw driver still at large

Update: 2017-05-30 18:43 GMT
It has been four days since an e-rickshaw driver objected two men urinating in the open was subjected to a brutal mob attack leading to his death but the Delhi Police have not made any substantial progress in the case yet.
The lackadaisical approach has still not changed, despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior cabinet ministers from the BJP government had asked the Delhi Police to take strict action and arrest the accused.
The police on Monday conducted a comprehensive CDR analysis of the two km area of the incident spot. They had also written to the Kirori Mal College authorities to give the list of candidates who had appeared for an entrance exam as the police suspected that the main accused were ones from the candidates.

However, the police had got a list of several numbers, which may or may not belong to the main accused. They will now undertake physical verification after finalising the list of numbers in and around the GTB Nagar Metro Station area where the e-rickshaw driver was beaten to death.

"We have got a list of some numbers. But we cannot claim that the number belongs to the main accused or the several members of the mob who had carried out the attack," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West) Milind Mahadeo Dumbere.

The police had also got their hands on a CCTV footage showing two students who fit the description of the accused, buying alcohol from a local liquor store. They had initially suspected that one of the suspects were from Haryana.

Also, the cops have taken a screen shot of the CCTV footage and have been visiting the PG's in the area to ascertain their identity.

Joint Commissioner of Police (crime) Praveer Ranjan stated that the Crime Branch led by DCP Madhur Verma is together working with district police in its probe in the case.
