The special team of Crime Branch Delhi on Monday arrested a notorious robber, Pawan alias Popad, who was wanted in a robbery case of Rs 40 lakh. He had robbed the handsome amount in broad daylight at gunpoint from Bharat Nagar.
In the light of the frequent robberies in Rohini,Outer District and North-West District areas, a team of officers of Crime Branch was constituted for identification of the criminals involved. The cops also put up all efforts for recoveries of illegal weapons.
Popad is a resident of Budh Vihar, Phase-II, Delhi, said police. On May 28, the team received some specific information that Pawan, the miscreant wanted in daylight robbery case of Bharat Nagar would come near MTNL Office, Sector-3, Rohini to meet someone in search of a new hideout. Immediately, the team swung into action and laid a trap. Around 9.15 p.m, Pawan reached the spot and was seen waiting. However, sensing trouble, he tried to flee the spot but was promptly apprehended by cops.
"Pawan also confessed to having committed another robbery at gunpoint from Sector-24, Rohini, Delhi in the month of February this year," said
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Crime Ram Gopal Naik.
