In a show of exemplary bravery, four men in Subhash Palace chased and apprehended armed robbers who were trying to rob an ATM in Subhash Palace in North West Delhi late night on May 24.
These men instead of running away followed the robbers and nabbed them. The miscreants were trying to break open an ATM of Canara Bank.
The complainant in the case along with his friend Anurag Sharma came to drop their colleague, Irshad. Soon after this, they dropped into a nearby ATM but were shocked on seeing around three to four men who were trying to break the ATM with hammers and rods.
Acting on instinct, they called Irshad who came with another man to challenge the miscreants. Following this, the robbers panicked and tried to flee in a car that was kept waiting. However, in haste, they bumped into a divider and two of them were caught on the spot. After this, the police was called in.
The cops arrested the absconding men who revealed an interesting excuse for the crime.
"On interrogation, it was revealed that accused Manish was in love with a girl from past seven years and wanted to marry her but could not due to the scarcity of funds. Hence he hatched a plan to commit the crime. They have earlier robbed Swiggy Shop of Rs 96,500," said Milind Dumbere, DCP North West Delhi.
The investigation also revealed that the main accused Manish and Ankit roped in Sanjay, Vishnu and one minor and taught them how to break ATM. They learned it by watching videos on YouTube. All agreed and planned to arrange the equipment required for the breaking an ATM. However, their plans were foiled by the brave efforts of the vigilant men and three of them were arrested. The cops are on the lookout for the absconding.
