Day 2: Technical glitches mar online admission process at DU

Despite the best efforts by Delhi University officials to make the admission process less cumbersome for the aspirants, technical glitches marred the admission process as many applicants could not register themselves on Tuesday.

Several students while talking to Millennium Post said that they could not fill a particular option tab as the page would reload, sending them on a loop and restarting the online application again.

The online admission process started on Monday, however, because of some last-minute technical glitches, the registration was delayed by an hour. Karthikey, an aspirant from Ghaziabad had waited for one hour after which he finally logged on to the system.

"When I reached tab option 2, there were no details. I thought there was some problem with my computer. But after repeated attempts I found that I could not upload any details," he said.

Seven out of ten students that this reporter talked to faced the same problem. "I had to fill the admission form at least seven times, but then I had to give up. The page kept sending me back in a loop. It was really frustrating, as every time I feared that my registration form would be rejected," said Avinash, an aspirant.

Sources in DU claimed that they failed to upload the technical details on the tab 2 and are working to rectify the issue. However, there were some students who faced other problems. Some students did not know which documents to upload, saying that the website makes no mention of the documents.

"My sister tried to apply for the online form, but when she had to upload the class X provisional certificate, she did not know which page to upload. Her provisional certificate contains three pages, and can't upload all pages," said Shalini Gupta, who reached DU with her sister to clear her doubts in the counselling session.

Some applicants also said that their registration number would not be recognised by the minority colleges, to which the DU officials stated that the portals of the minority colleges have not yet been set up.

Some parents also did not know about the subject selection for the courses according to the new best of four break-up method as adequate data was not available on the university website.

"We have been monitoring the situation and will make sure that the online process is hassle free," said Gurpreet Tuteja, the Deputy Dean of student's welfare.
