Three days after a farmer and his nephew carrying cattle were thrashed by a group of men in Greater Noida, three accused vigilantes were arrested by Greater Noida police.
Two were arrested on Saturday while one vigilant was arrested on Sunday while one is on run.
54-year-old Ashok Kumar who was arrested on Sunday hails from Jewar. The earlier two arrested were identified as Gaurav Kumar(26) and Mahesh(45).
"All the three arrested were among the four named in the FIR. The fourth accused Om Prakash is still on run while we are conducting search operations at various suspected locations to nab the accused, " said a police official.
Ajay Kumar Sharma, Station House officer, Jewar police station said, "We received information about the presence of accused vigilantes nearby Dudhera village. Following this, a police team raided the place and took the accused into custody. We conducted raids at various locations on Saturday night to nab him. Soon, we will make more arrests. We have also detained six more people and they are being questioned. All the accused will be produced in the court."
On Friday afternoon, Bhoop Singh (50) and his nephew Jaiveer Singh (30) were accosted in Jewar village by a group of men who accused them of being cattle smugglers and roughed them up. The cow had been gifted to them by a Muslim man for he had many animals to take care of.
