After waiting for more than a decade, over ninety thousand families are seeing a ray of hope. This year, the Dwarka expressway will be completed even as the legal hurdles around the proposed stretch continues to be present.

With discrepancies over compensation and alternate land allotment between HUDA and the original land owners being heard in Punjab and Haryana High Court, a stay has been put on the construction activities at Dwarka Expressway.

The next hearing on the matter is scheduled on May 25.

The delay in the construction of the Dwarka Expressway has initiated complaints by homeowners that with incomplete infrastructure, why are property sales allowed at Dwarka expressway.
Besides the city officials, most of the homeowners of Dwarka Expressway have lodged complaints with the higher authorities at Chandigarh.

Most of the homeowners have been demanding for having fast track courts on the cases of Dwarka Expressway so that the area is equipped with basic amenities.

Meanwhile, the HUDA officials have maintained that barring few stretched where construction is not happening due to the stay order, developmental activities in the other stretch are taking place at a fast pace.
"Due to stay order from the court, developmental activities along certain sections of Northern Peripheral Road are at a halt. However, due to a proactive approach, we hope to get the matters resolved soon and the Northern Peripheral Road will be completed this year.

For the benefit of homeowners a linkage of Dwarka Expressway with NH-8 will also be set up," said a senior HUDA official.

The official also stated that they are overcoming the challenges gradually.

"While there may be complaints of legal issues slowing down the work in Northern Peripheral Road, developmental works at the Southern Peripheral road have begun at full swing," added the official.
While repeated assurances are been provided by the public officials over the completion of the Dwarka Expressway by this year, homeowners complain that deadlines have been missed earlier despite assurances.
