DCW comes to rescue of teenaged girl sexually abused by mother's paramour
The Delhi Commission for Women's (DCW) 181 Women helpline number helped rescue a 15-year-old teenager from the clutches of a man who had been sexually assaulting her. The accused was in a live-in relationship with the victim's mother and was arrested by the Delhi Police on Friday.
The DCW's helpline received a call from a woman stating that her daughter's classmate was sexually assaulted by her mother's live-in partner. The victim's mother was aware of her partner's misdeeds but chose to stay mum.
Incidentally, one day, the minor victim refused to go back home from her classmate's house. The victim refused to go home even after her mother rolled out several efforts. Suspicious over the victim's refusal, her classmate's mother asked her the reason. The girl gathered courage and confided in the woman her daily miseries. She informed her friend's mother that her mother's live-in partner used to sexually assault her. The woman then called up on DCW's 181 helpline number to seek help for the teenager.
Immediately after receiving the phone call, a counsellor of Mobile Helpline (MHL) program met the victim and counselled her. The counsellor then referred the case to a counsellor of Crisis Intervention Centres (CIC) program of DCW. Later, with the help of CIC counsellor, an FIR was registered at Ambedkar Nagar police station and the accused nabbed.
