Criminals dragged cop for few metres, then snatched his service revolver
New Delhi: Two criminals, who dragged policeman for few metres with their car and then snatched his service pistol, were arrested from Aman Vihar area of Rohini district.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) SD Mishra said in the intervening night of August 9 and 10, two constables Kavinder and Rajesh of Aman Vihar police station were on patrolling duty in Rohini sector 20.
"They were gathering intelligence about an accused involved in a murder case. While collecting intelligence one person under eyes and ears scheme gave them a tip that three persons in a white colour were in the area and just driving around," said DCP Rohini. He further added that both the constables located the car.
Seeing policemen the suspects fled. As the cops followed them the car took a turn and came towards them.
"As a drill and precaution they took out their pistols and constable Kavinder signalled them to stop. But the driver identified as Lala tried to hit him. Kavinder jumped aside and hit the windowpane of the car," said DCP Rohini.
He further added that the windowpane was broken but his hand holding pistol was grabbed by the person sitting inside the car.
They carried him along for a fair distance.
Later released his hand after snatching the pistol. Kavinder hand was cut and bleeding due to the shrapnels of shattered glass. Ct Kavinder informed the seniors and raids were carried out.
Accused Rakesh was nabbed from his village Rasool Pur Kanjawala and Ashok Jaggi was arrested from Pooth Kalan.
Police said that the car used by the accused was recovered along with a robbed pistol and all the bullets. The third accused is a minor who is yet to be examined.
