Committed to provide quality education, not afraid of going to jail: Manish Sisodia
NEW DELHI: The day after the allegations of Rs 2,000 crore by BJP, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia on Tuesday asserted that there would be no compromise in providing the quality education and the Delhi government is committed to doing that. He said that he is committed to improving Delhi's education quality and he is not going to step back even if somebody wants to send him to jail. "BJP has made a wild allegation based on imaginary calculations which have no basis and the sole aim appears to be BJP's fear on the ongoing forward movement of Delhi in the field of education," he said.
He also alleged that the Delhi government found some documents pertaining to a construction estimate of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC). "On Monday, Manoj Tiwari alleged that Delhi government's estimate for the construction of 13,000 classrooms for Rs 2,800 crore at Rs 25 lakh/classroom is a 'scam', he said.
"The SDMC had prepared an estimate for building 43 rooms at a cost of Rs 10,73,80,000, which comes to Rs 24.95 lakh per classroom. But unlike the Delhi government's project for construction, the MCD's estimate did not include rainwater harvesting systems, furniture, ceiling, fans, lights," he further added.
The Deputy CM said that the fear of the BJP is that the Delhi government is delivering much more for the cost estimate at which the MCDs are delivering pathetic quality classrooms.
"Manoj Tiwari should answer why his own party's SDMC has estimated the same figure as Delhi government for lower quality of infrastructure. The fact is that the actual costs are working out much lower than the estimates, but going only by the estimates, the BJP's MCD is the one that's corrupt," he said.
