Gurugram: What has been a major sore point in the infrastructure development of Gurugram may soon end with the resumption of the construction of Dwarka expressway. On his visit to national Capital on Tuesday, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar met various senior ministers including Nitin Gadkari where the subject of the major route was taken up.
Just few days ago, Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) Chairperson V Umashankar mentioned that Dwarka expressway is likely to get completed within 18 months. The public official also said that construction is expected to begin soon as all the litigations regarding the expressway has almost concluded.
Waiting for more than 10 years, over 19,000 families hope that this year the Dwarka expressway will be completed even as the legal hurdles around the proposed stretch remains. The frustrating delay in the construction of the Dwarka Expressway has also resulted in home owners to complain that with incomplete infrastructure why sales of properties at Dwarka expressway allowed to happen. Besides the city officials, most of the home owners of Dwarka expressway have also complained to the higher authorities at Chandigarh. Most of the home owners of Dwarka expressway have been demanding for fast track courts on the cases of Dwarka expressway so that basic amenities can be provided in the area.
"Having invested in the area for so long, I do not have any option but to wait for basic amenities to improve at the Dwarka expressway. Though we have been assured for long that work will start and get completed often we are left disappointed. While the grouses remain at least there is some satisfaction that the grievances of the homeowners are now being highlighted," said Sudhir Yadav
