Gurugram: Being Sunday and a Karva Chauth it could have been just another festive holiday for residents of Gurugram. Yet, rather than having a leisurely day, most of the residents came in huge numbers for the janta durbar where they registered the complaints one to one with Chief Minister ML Khattar.
The session provided the Chief Minister an opportunity to gauge the mood of the citizens of the richest district of Haryana. The recent civic elections had resulted in a major setback for his party as the councillors who fought on the party symbol won 14 out of 35 seats.
Prior to the janta durbar session, the head of the state was a part of the grievance redressal session where over 28 complaints were received. The level of dissatisfaction of citizens was, however, felt in the session afterwards where in the span of just two and a half hours there were 300 complaints that were addressed to the district public administration.
The grievances ranged from poor infrastructure in the private colonies, water supply problems, formation of real estate regulatory committee (RERA) and law and order problems.
Taking cognisance of one of the complaints, the Chief Minister suspended a police official of sub inspector rank as he refused to file an FIR over a complaint.
"We have suspended this official as he did not file an FIR over a complaint. It is not acceptable for a law enforcement official to adopt a process of law just because he does not want the crime to be recorded in his area," said the Chief Minister.
Taking note of other major issues plaguing the city, Khattar mentioned that Sushant Lok, the private colony that is major infrastructural crisis will be soon taken over Municipal Corporation of Gurugram. He also affirmed that the process of forming the RERA committee will be completed by the end of the month.
