In a tragic incident, a 17-year-old girl was crushed to death by a speeding chartered bus at Mool Chand flyover in South East Delhi on Friday morning.
The driver of the bus has been arrested for causing death by negligence.
The incident took place around 9 am when the deceased, Kajal Muskaan was on her way to Delhi Institute of Computer Science (DICS) in Lajpat Nagar. When she reached the Mool Chand flyover, a speeding chartered bus hit her two-wheeler from behind. Following this, she lost her balance and came under wheels of the bus.
Soon, the public stopped the bus and nabbed the driver. The cops were informed who took the girl to the hospital. She was declared brought dead by the doctors. After this, the family members of the girl were called for identification.
The girl was pursuing B.A from DU distance education and was also undergoing a computer course at DSIC. On the fateful day, she was going to attend the computer classes in Sadiq Nagar.
The victim is sustained by her parents and two brothers. Her father is an employee of the Japanese embassy on a contract basis and her mother works with the defence ministry.
"We are very disturbed as she was the only girl. Two of her brothers and parents are inconsolable. The news of her sudden death has shattered us," said the deceased's uncle, Sunirman Mondol.
"We have arrested the 40-year-old driver, Harilal. Also, a case has been registered under section 279 and 304 A of IPC," said a senior police officer.
