B.tech student commits suicide

Greater Noida: A 22-year-old B.tech student allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan of his paying guest room in sector Alpha-1 of Greater Noida. Police have recovered a suicide note from his room which indicated that he was suffering from depression.

Gaurav Kumar Verma, originally from Champaran district of Bihar, was a third year engineering student at Noida International University (NIU) in Greater Noida. "Gaurav, with one of his friends, had been living at a private paying guest house in sector Alpha-1. His roommate had gone to home for Diwali vacations when he took the extreme step," said Ram Phal Singh, Station house officer, Kasna police station.

Police have recovered a suicide note from deceased's room which indicates that the student was under mental stress which forced him to take the extreme step.
