New Delhi: To solemnize his sister's marriage, an 18-year-old boy kidnapped a businessman's son for ransom of Rs 75 lakh but he was arrested from Bawana area. Police said that along with the accused, his mother and sister were also nabbed for their involvement in the crime. Police identified the accused as Dhruv, his 21-year-old sister Meenakshi (name changed) and their mother Kamla (name changed), all residents of Daryapur Kalan.
"They kidnapped the 3-year-old boy from Bawana area. The child was recovered from rented accommodation of the accused in Daryapur. His hands, legs and mouth were found tied," police said adding that on August 4, victim's father had reported them about missing of his son. The victim's father deals in sale-purchases of imported second-hand cars and owns an Audi car.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North) Gaurav Sharma said that they got lead in the case after re-examining 30-35 CCTV cameras from the spot. "In one of the CCTV footages, we saw the suspicious movement of a vehicle at the probable time of the incident. An enquiry revealed that Dhruv owns that vehicle," the DCP said.
Adding further, the police official said on that day the victim child and two other children were offered Frooti by Dhruv. "The accused was examined. It was found that he had made several calls to the victim's father. Further, photographs of the kidnapped boy were also there in the phone gallery. Three audio recordings in which, he was demanding Rs 75 lakh ransom from the complainant were found in the mobile," police further said. Later all the three accused were arrested. He learnt the modus operandi through a crime serial episode.
The DCP further added that investigation revealed that the accused shared his kidnapping plan with his mother and sister, but they refused. Last month, engagement of his sister was cancelled due to non-fulfilment of other party's demands. On this, the mother and sister of Dhruv asked him to act as per his plan for the money.
"A few days back, the accused connected with the complainant through WhatsApp. The accused pretended himself to be a factory owner, who wants to sell his car. The complainant agreed to buy the car thus accused was sure that the victim's father is rich," DCP Gaurav Sharma said.
