New Delhi: Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva has criticised Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal for failing to fulfill his promises to the city’s auto rickshaw drivers over the past 12 years. Sachdeva accused him of deceiving the auto-rickshaw community with empty assurances, claiming that despite repeatedly calling them “family,” the Kejriwal government had done little to improve their working conditions or address their challenges. According to Sachdeva, both during the COVID-19 pandemic and in the post-pandemic period, the AAP government

has failed to take meaningful steps to improve the lives of auto drivers.

Following a meeting with a group of auto drivers at his office, Sachdeva expressed his frustration with Kejriwal’s record. “Arvind Kejriwal has been selling dreams to auto drivers for years, but nothing has changed,” Sachdeva said, highlighting the lack of progress under the current government. He emphasised that the BJP is committed to making a real difference, outlining a comprehensive set of promises that aim to improve the welfare of auto drivers if the party comes to power.

Among the key measures proposed by Sachdeva, the BJP intends to ensure free education for the children of all licensed auto drivers, along with scholarships for those seeking higher education. He also announced a life insurance scheme that would

be available to all auto drivers in Delhi under the Prime Minister’s initiatives, set to begin in September 2025.
