Bank robbery averted by security guard

New Delhi: The bravery shown by a security guard averted robbery inside a bank in Shahdara district area on Tuesday.

The guard through his bravery made sure that the group of armed robbers flee the spot cashless.

Police said that they have started the investigation in the case. So far no persons were arrested in the case.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Meghna Yadav said that the incident came to light in the afternoon of Tuesday. A PCR call was made regarding the incident at a private bank in Krishna Nagar area. The two accused were came inside the bank with arms.

"The alert guard saw them and objected their entry inside the bank," DCP Shahdara.

Police said that the robbers were unable to overpower the guard and they ran away from the spot.

"The accused fired at the ground during the scuffle with guard and in return, the guard also fired when the accused were fleeing the spot. No one was injured in the case and no cash was taken from the bank," police said adding that they have registered a case in this regard and further investigation is going on.

Police said that they are scanning CCTV footages in the case and questioned several persons to get a clue in this regard.

Last year a security guard of a cash van fought bravely with the armed robbers and averted the heist of Rs 4-5 crore in Mayur Vihar.

Despite being shot in the neck by the robbers, the brave man forced the armed assailants to return empty-handed.
