Noida: Armed robbers barged into the house of a timber dealer in sector 8 area of Noida and robbed valuables worth lakhs by keeping the family hostage. Police have registered a case while they are suspecting involvement of some known persons behind the robbery.

Vijay Singh, a timber dealer, lives with his family in sector 8 area of Noida. Singh's two sons have gone to attend a marriage in Delhi along with their wives while other members were present at home at the time of incident. At around 10:30 pm on Tuesday, two robbers knocked the door of their house and asked them to open the door as a fire has been reported outside.

Soon after one of Singh's daughter-in-law, who was present at the house, opened the door, the assailants barged into the house, stuffed a cloth into her mouth and tied her hands and legs. One of robbers opened the lock of almirah with a duplicate key while another kept a watch on movement of other family members present at home.

Family members have alleged that the assailants fled away with valuables and cash worth Rs 10-15 lakhs. Meanwhile police have lodged a case into the matter while they are probing the case.

"Prima Facie it appears that the robbers were known to the family as they were aware of other family member's visit to marriage. We have also gathered some important clues into the case and are expecting to make a breakthrough soon" a senior police officer of sector 20 police station said.
