The passenger was travelling to Ahmadabad and works as a labour contractor. On questioning he produced his arms licence and asserted that the ammunition recovered from his hand baggage actually belongs to his licensed weapon and he was not conscious about the presence of round in his bag. Pax also produced his licence, but the license was valid for Gujarat state only. Hence, a case was registered.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGIA) Rajeev Ranjan said that 51 such cases under Arms Act have been registered at IGI Airport Unit during the current year so far in which passengers have been inadvertently or knowingly detected with ammunition while security screening at the Airport. "As per the legal provisions, an FIR is registered against such passenger for the possession of ammunition illegally without a valid license issued for Delhi or All India and he or she has to face criminal proceedings before the court of law," he said.

DCP further said that all travellers are once again advised to check all their belongings related to ammunitions before reaching the Airport and enjoy a hassle free journey. IGI Airport Police is striving hard towards making Airport passenger friendly and crime free.
