NEW DELHI: Any child who is born in India can have access to government schools and AAP government gave a model where every child from any segment of the society can get quality education, said Education Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia on Thursday. He also emphasised that private education should not be the primary education solution. "The problem with private schools is that they have a lot of filters like money, a socio-economic background which creates entrance barriers for the children. In government schools, we don't have any filters. Any child who is born in India can have access to government schools. We have given a model where every child from any segment of the society can get a quality education. All Delhi government schools now can compete with private schools, but the Schools of Excellence are acknowledged by all to be better than private schools," said the Education Minister.
Earlier, the minister said that for years India remained a developing nation but could not become a developed country because the country did not have the mindset of entrepreneurship. "In my childhood I learned that there are three types of nations, developed, developing and underdeveloped. My teachers told me that India is a developing country but in a few years, it will become a developed country. Today, teachers teach the same. India remained a developing country because we lack entrepreneurship mindset," he said.
A delegation of thirteen teachers from the United States visited the Delhi government's School of Excellence, Khichripur on Thursday, with Deputy chief minister and education minister Manish Sisodia. He welcomed the teachers on behalf of what he called Delhi's 'Team Education', students and teachers, and wished the US delegation a happy independence day for the July 4 celebration. The Deputy chief minister requested the students to ask the delegation anything they wanted to know about the US.
