NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party on Monday announced to launch its signature campaign from Tuesday, under which its workers will reach out to 10 lakh households of the city and collect signatures from the public for a petition requesting that the party's demands be met.
"From Tuesday, we will start a signature campaign in which we will reach out to 10 lakh families in the national capital and send those letters to the Prime Minister," AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, along with his deputy Manish Sisodia and Cabinet Ministers Satyendar Jain and Gopal Rai, have been camping at Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal's office since June 11. Sisodia, who has been on a hunger strike since June 13, was taken to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital here on Monday due to failing health after Jain, who has been fasting since June 12, was hospitalised on late on Sunday.
Meanwhile, AAP alleged that a meeting called by Delhi Food minister Imran Hussain was re-scheduled without information from officials of his department. However, the meeting on environment was attended by all officials of the Environment department, also headed by Hussain.
Addressing the media on the absence of the Food Commissioner at Monday's meeting, AAP MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj said, "As per norms, one is supposed to inform (in this case, environment minister Imran Hussain) if you are unable to turn up for the meeting. This did not happen."
He said that two meetings called by Hussain on Monday at the same office. The environment secretary attended the environment meeting, while the food secretary boycotted his concerned meeting.
"How did one IAS officer find meeting with the same Minister safe and dignified, while the other did not? Also, the food secretary sent his junior special secretary. How is it safe for the junior," questioned Hussain.
He also said that it proves boycotting the meetings of ministers has nothing to do with safety and security and "is just dirty politics."
