AAP slams Centre for 'misleading' facts on Delhi statehood demand

NEW DELHI: AAP Chief spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj on Tuesday alleged that the Centre and LG of Delhi have presented 'misleading' facts to the Lok Sabha regarding the Delhi statehood. He presented the resolution taken by the Delhi Assembly on June, 2018.

"Modi Government lied to the Parliament on Tuesday while answering to the Question on Delhi Statehood demand. The Minister said there is no demand for statehood," Tweeted Bharadwaj. He added, "The Central Minister misled the Lok Sabha because they did not want to tell the stand of Central Govt on Statehood of Delhi. Is it not shameful for a party (BJP) which is demanding statehood for Delhi since 1954?" The central government has received no demand for granting statehood to Delhi, Union Minister Hansraj Gangaram Ahir said in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

"No, Madam (Speaker)," this was his written reply to Congress MP K V Thomas' question whether there was a demand to grant statehood to the national capital.
