NEW DELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party prabharis (in-charges) have began working on booth level communication in their respective constituencies, for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. In the first few days, their target will be to interact with booth level volunteers and strengthen grassroots-level communication.
"Our first target is to meet booth level workers and to strengthen communication. Further, we will plan how to proceed," said an AAP leader.
In a statement, AAP said that five senior leaders have been assigned separate parliamentary constituencies for "micro focus" on five parliament seats and strengthening the organisation further on the Chandni Chowk, East, North-East, South and North-West Delhi seats.
However, party sources quickly pointed out that AAP intends to contest all seven Lok Sabha seats, given the fact that the party had "performed well in each of these" in the 2014 general election.
They added that in-charges for the remaining two constituencies — New Delhi and West Delhi — would be appointed in the coming days.
AAP had earlier announced that Atishi Marlena, former adviser to Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia whose appointment was cancelled recently, would be in-charge of the affairs in East Delhi constituency.
Raghav Chadha, the party had said, would be in-charge of South Delhi.
Additionally, AAP spokesperson and former Delhi unit chief Dilip Pandey will oversee North East Delhi, Pankaj Gupta will oversee Chandni Chowk and Guggan Singh Ranga, a former BJP MLA, will be in-charge of North West Delhi constituency.
Furthermore, sources in the party maintained that some leaders in the Delhi unit of Congress have sought AAP's support, in order to defeat BJP in the upcoming election. However, Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken had recently dismissed rumours of an alliance.
