AAP and Congress have insulted women: Tiwari

New Delhi: Scaling up the heat on election campaigning, Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari on Thursday fired a fresh barrage of accusations against the Congress for its silence on spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi's reservations against hiring back party members who allegedly misbehaved with her in Mathura. He said, "Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress party have always insulted women".

Ridiculing the opposition parties, Tiwari said that discussions on respecting women "must be awkward within these parties". He said that both the parties have made unbecoming comments to women and that it "clearly shows that these parties do not have the culture to respect women".

The North-East Delhi MP said despite Chaturvedi making her displeasure public through a post on social media, the party does not seem to take appropriate steps.

"This exposes the anti-woman character of the Congress party," Tiwari said, asking the party's president Rahul Gandhi as to when his party will start respecting women.

Tiwari added that while on the one hand both Congress and AAP have made promises to empower women and provide safety and security to them, they are unable to respect women within their own organisations.
