80 school girls attend STEM Mentorship Programme

NEW DELHI: Eighty school girls from class 9 and 11 learned the nuances of technology and AI during the ‘STEM Mentorship Programme’ at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, officials said on Monday.

According to IIT-Delhi Director Rangan Banerjee, the institute aims to increase the female representation in STEM and the programme which is now in its third year, is one of the initiatives in the direction.

Students attended the monthly Sci-Tech Spins lecture series, including a special talk by the Founder and CEO of STEMBoard, a former NASA aerospace engineer, sparking their interest in space science. The Winter phase of the program, a five-day event, featured lectures from IIT Delhi alumnae and faculty on topics such as women’s leadership in STEM, AI in neuroscience, and algorithm design. A DIY workshop also provided hands-on experience in innovation and creation.
