New Delhi: A 35-year-old man was found dead in east Delhi's New Ashok Nagar on Thursday, with Delhi Police stating that the victim shot himself dead.
Sources in the police claimed that the incident was reported around 2 am on Thursday, after they received a PCR call about the incident in a paying guest accommodation located in New Ashok Nagar.
A police team immediately reached the spot and the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
Police stated that the deceased was identified as Abhinav, who is suspected to have shot himself late Wednesday night when he was alone at his residence.
No suicide note was found at the spot, said cops, adding that they have recovered the pistol from which the bullet was fired.
Sources claimed that the man had some family problems, which prompted him to take the extreme step.
"The investigation is being conducted from all angles. Questioning of different people known to the deceased is going on. After the probe are complete, things will become clear," police said.
In another incident, the wife of an Army personnel died after she was hit by a bus in south west Delhi Dwarka area on Thursday morning.
Police said the deceased was identified as 59-year-old Alka.
"The woman was crossing the road when a bus hit her. The bus driver and a newspaper vendor took her to a nearby, hospital but she succumbed to her injuries," said a senior police official.
The woman was the wife of a Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Army.
