3 teenagers drown in Yamuna

New Delhi: Three teenagers drowned in the Yamuna river in Wazirabad area on Sunday, while one was rescued, fire officials said. The deceased were identified as Ayush Kumar (15), Vikas (18) and Ram Kishan (18), they said, adding Durga Shankar was rescued. The Fire Department received a call at around 4 pm that the four were drowning in the river at Surya Ghat, the official said. The three boys were taken to Aruna Asaf Ali Hospital where they were declared brought dead, the officials said.

According to police, deceased lived in North Delhi area. "On Sunday six persons went to Wazirabad. Four persons went to the river. However, after a while, three persons were nowhere in sight whereas the fourth one was rescued," police said. Cops received a PCR call and search operations was started were. Later the bodies were fished out from the river.

It is not the first case in 2018, four of the boys, aged 12 to 14 years, drowned in the Yamuna river. Police claimed that

seven kids from the same locality visited the spot in the morning and four of them went inside the canal but due to the depth of river they were unable to

save themselves and drowned. In another case, two youths

died after they drowned in Yamuna river in North Delhi's Timarpur.
