New Delhi: In a bizarre incident, a 14-year-old girl was apprehended for kidnapping a minor boy from Ambedkar Nagar area in South Delhi on Wednesday.
Police said that after 12 hours search, they were able to trace the kid from New Delhi district. Nearly 100 policemen started their door to door operation from Wednesday afternoon after they received the case of the two-year-old kidnapped boy.
"The victim in the case was playing with his siblings in the park at Ambedkar Nagar area," a senior officer said. Later, the 14 years old girl came there and took the boy and his siblings on the pretext of giving food at her house.
The girl was holding the boy and the victim's sister was following them. Suddenly victim's sister lost accused and her brother in the crowd.
"She (sister) came back to her house and informed the family members about the incident and later police were alerted," said the official.
A team under Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Parvinder Singh led by SHO (Ambedkar Nagar) OP Thakur started their
probe.
"Almost 15 teams started combing operation in the Ambedkar Nagar area. CCTVs were scanned, child photographs were shown. A door to door search was conducted," police said.
Investigators further said that the victim's sister had told them about the girl. "We later found the girl after tracing her house and asked about the minor boy," police said.
The girl told investigators that she took the boy to India Gate where they both played in the park.
"In the evening, the boy started to cry. The person nearby India Gate asked about the boy whereabouts from the girl. She was frightened and left the place," police said.
After getting information, South Delhi Police found the toddler at a child home.
Further investigation revealed that the girls' family told officer that she regularly go to India Gate to play. A case of kidnapping was registered.
Investigator further added that they did not found any criminal angle in the case.
"The girl told us that she wanted to return the boy to her sister but she could not found her due to the crowd. Later in the bus, the girl took him to India Gate," police said adding that the girl's family also told them that she does not study.
"In one the CCTV cameras, we saw that the girl was taking the boy along with her," police added. The girl's father works as a labourer while her mother works as a maid.
The Delhi Police data up to March 15, as many as 585 kids were traced whereas 592 still missing.
As many as 1,080 kidnapping cases reported in which 315 were solved and 60 persons involved in the crime arrested.
